1955 Ford Thunderbird Frame Off Restoration
Style, power, and comfort is the combination that worked so well for the 1955 Ford Thunderbird convertible. It's an unmistakable, timeless silhouette that can only be associated with America. This Thunderbird is one of the finest first year-first generation cars you will find. In 1995 it was purchased in Scottsdale, Arizona as a birthday present for the wife of the previous owner. Soon after, it was featured in several Sonic Drive-In commercials and served as the centerpiece at business conventions. In the summer of 2006 a complete restoration was begun. The car was first completely disassembled and both the frame and body were media blasted. The entire original drive train, including the 292-cid Y-block V-8 and Ford-O-Matic transmission, the rear axle and the brakes were rebuilt and refinished to like new condition. The body was repainted in its original Goldenrod Yellow and the carpeting, interior and dash were completely reconditioned or replaced. The engine compartment appears stock and as it looked in 1955 when the car rolled out of the factory. The car has been restored to better than new condition and needs absolutely nothing. If you're in the market for an early Thunderbird, don't pass up the opportunity to own one of the finest in the world.
