Beginning in 1978, Pontiac engineers reversed years of declining power by raising the compression ratio in the Pontiac 400 through the installation of different cylinder heads with smaller combustion chambers This increased rated power by 10% during the 1978-79 model years. This formula Firebird has the optional W72 6.6 liter TA 400 engine with 4-speed transmission. Interior is black vinyl high back seats with complete gauge package, thick Trans Am steering wheel and console. The BF Goodrich Radial T/A tires are mounted on correct Pontiac Rally II wheels.
